I don't know where they got those figures from. In 2007 (I still have it in my logs), I was downloading things consistently at 150KB/sec, which is over 1Mbps. Did it get slower in 2010?
Well - I assume this is an average connection speed of all Internet users and if I am not mistaken the standard Streamyx back in 2010 (so let's assume the numbers were from 2009) was 512 kbps. Chris - I doubt you or I can count ourselves as average Internet users. And for the record - in 2007 I had a 1 Mbps connection and the lines to US sucked big time to it was quite rare to see anything approaching 1 Mbps downloads unless it was from a Malaysian or Singaporian server.
